 Why do you need to know something about the EU? 

It is important to recognize the rights and opportunities that all citizens have inside the EU. Also noticing the work EU is doing to push for human rights. The principle of equality between all people underpins all European policies and is the basis for European integration. Human rights are protected by the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. These cover the right to be free from discrimination on the basis of gender, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation, the right to the protection of your personal data, and the right to get access to justice. 


To what extent EU is important to Finland? 


Finland is in the EU. Joining the European Union has given Finland and other member states a number of new rights. These rights include traveling freely and stay in any EU member state, vote in the European Parliament elections in the member state in which you live permanently and can stand for as a candidate and represent your country in the European Parliamentsame applies to municipal electionsCooperation across Europe has also created many new opportunities. School diplomas and employment certificates are accepted in all EU member states. People may work abroad and not lose social security. Lastly, efforts are made to improve living conditions.
